Craniosacral Therapy in Collingwood

A gentle, hands-on approach to deep relaxation, nervous system rebalancing, and whole-body wellness.

Real Relief Through Gentle Touch

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is one of the most gentle yet profoundly effective therapies available for the central nervous system. Rooted in Osteopathic principles, CST works with the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord — releasing restrictions throughout the body so it can return to its natural state of balance and self-healing.

At Collaborative Health Group, CST is offered by Liw Bringelson, a Certified Craniosacral Therapist with over a decade of clinical experience. Liw brings both deep technical training and a systems-based perspective to her work, helping clients understand how CST fits into the broader picture of their physical health and well-being.

What Is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a tissue-based, hands-on modality that uses minimal pressure — as light as five grams — to evaluate and support the natural rhythms of the craniosacral system. Working primarily from the pelvis to the large bones of the head, the therapist assists the body in releasing restrictions and blockages that may be limiting movement, flow, and function.

Sessions are non-invasive and deeply restful. Clients remain fully clothed and lie on a massage table for approximately 45 to 50 minutes. Most people experience a profound sense of relaxation during and after treatment. CST can also serve as a reset for the central nervous system — allowing the body to re-align, decompress, and function more effectively.

CST is not a passive experience. As the client, you are the expert in your own body. The therapist works as a catalyst, supporting your body’s innate capacity to release tension and restore its own balance.

Conditions CST Can Help

CST is particularly effective for conditions involving the central nervous system, chronic tension, and systemic imbalance.

Acute and neurological conditions:

  • Migraines and chronic headaches
  • Post-concussion syndrome
  • Vertigo and balance disorders
  • TMJ dysfunction
  • Back and neck pain

Chronic and systemic conditions:

Regular CST sessions have also supported clients managing longer-term health challenges, including:

  • Chronic pain syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Rheumatoid arthritis

Many clients find CST a valuable complement to other treatments — whether they’re working with a chiropractor, physiotherapist, or psychotherapist at CHG, or receiving care elsewhere. Because the nervous system underlies everything, restoring its balance often has wide-reaching effects.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Your first CST session begins with a conversation about your health history, current concerns, and goals. You’ll remain fully clothed throughout the treatment and lie comfortably on a massage table.

Liw will work gently — using very light touch at specific points along the body — to assess the rhythm of the craniosacral system and identify areas of restriction. As tension releases, you may notice warmth, a sense of deep relaxation, or subtle shifts in how your body feels. Many clients find themselves in a deeply restful state, or even drift off during treatment.

Following the session, Liw will share observations and discuss any follow-up she recommends. First-time clients often describe feeling lighter, more relaxed, and more at ease in their body.
