Tanya Lawrence
About
Tanya Lawrence is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) providing therapy for individuals, couples, and youth in Collingwood and the surrounding Georgian Bay area. She also offers virtual counselling across Ontario, making support accessible wherever clients are located.
Tanya holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Family and Child Relations from the University of Guelph. Her approach to therapy is grounded in understanding the connection between mental, emotional, and physiological experiences. Drawing from trauma-informed and mind–body-based practices, she helps clients recognize how thoughts, emotions, and nervous system responses are interconnected, supporting meaningful and lasting change.
In session, Tanya creates a calm, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their experiences at their own pace. Her work is collaborative and tailored to each individual, focusing on building self-awareness, emotional regulation, and a stronger sense of connection to oneself and others. Together, she and her clients develop personalized goals that reflect what truly matters, helping move from feeling stuck or overwhelmed toward greater clarity and balance.
Tanya supports clients navigating anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, depression, grief, life transitions, and relationship challenges. She also works with individuals experiencing emotional regulation difficulties, self-esteem concerns, people-pleasing patterns, and mind–body symptoms such as tension, fatigue, and sleep disruption. Her approach is particularly supportive for those dealing with chronic illness, caregiver stress, or a general sense of disconnection.
Her therapeutic work integrates a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and person-centred and strengths-based therapies. Each session is adapted to the client’s needs, with a focus on building practical tools, emotional resilience, and values-based change.
Tanya is committed to providing thoughtful, client-centred care that supports both mental and physical well-being. When appropriate and with consent, her work may be informed by collaboration within the broader Collaborative Health team to ensure a more integrated approach to care.
